Wildfires of note

There is one wildfire of note in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta.

June 03, 2022, 1630

Fire number: RWF034

Status: Out of Control (OC)

Size: 3 hectares (ha)

Location: Approximately 16 km north of Rocky Mountain House, airtankers will be using Cow Lake for their operations. 

Resources assigned: 28 firefighters, two tanker groups and 3 helicopters are actively working on this fire. The local RCMP and fire department are also assisting. 

Comments: An evacuation order has been issued by Clearwater County at 1442 June 03 for an area north of the Ferrier Gas Plant on Buster Creek Road (Township Road 410) in a 5km radius to the north and northwest. Visit www.clearwatercounty.ca for evacuation updates.

Evacuations are initiated by the local municipality and enforced by the RCMP. Information is shared through radio, social media, the Alberta Emergency Alert system, our ministry website and app. Alberta Wildfire does not enact evacuation orders.

A wildfire of note is determined to be of significant public interest and may pose a threat to public safety, communities or critical infrastructure.

Wildfires of note do not typically include mutual aid wildfires located outside of the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. Alberta Wildfire provides assistance on a mutual aid wildfire but is not the lead agency.
