There are 10 wildfire of note in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta.
RCU-005
- Wildfire RCU-005 is 2 km from the south edge of Drayton Valley. It is classified as out of control at 1,500 ha.
- Alberta Wildfire has sent 26 wildfire fighters, three helicopters to the wildfire. Airtankers will also be supporting the firefighting efforts today.
HWF-030
- Wildfire HWF-030 is located in the community of Fox Lake. This wildfire is classified as Out of Control (OC) at 4,383 hectares. There are 55 firefighters, 5 helicopters, six structure protection crews with vehicle, and 8 pieces of heavy equipment working on this fire.
- Alberta Wildfire assisted in the evacuation of the community of Fox Lake transporting 115 people via helicopter.
HWF-036
- Wildfire HWF-036 is located near the community of Rainbow Lake. This wildfire is 500 ha in size.
- There are 24 firefighters, two helicopters and eight pieces of heavy equipment are currently working the wildfire. Heavy bucketing helicopters are operating in the High Level area.
- Community of Fox Lake has been fully evacuated to the Town of High Level.
- 1,800 of the 3,600 residents have registered at reception centres
WCU002
- Wildfire WCU-002 is approximately 7 km northwest of Evansburg on both sides of Highway 22, 3 km north of Highway 16. This wildfire is classified as out of control at 2,254 ha in size and is 65 pre cent contained
- There are 80 wildland firefighters, four helicopters, and 14 pieces of heavy equipment working to control this wildfire.
- Structural protection unit is on scene and integrating operations with Yellowhead County
- Heavy equipment worked through the night to contain the excursion on the north side of fire. The fire also crossed established guard on the SW corner, heavy equipment contained that excursion as well.
WCU-001: East side of the Pembina River, outside of the FPA.
- The wildfire is centred on the east side of the Pembina River and is out of control at 950 ha.
- Initial attack will action any spotting activity across the Pembina River
- An evacuation order is in place for residents East of the Pembina.
SWF-057 – Big Lakes County – 35 km South of Swan River First Nation
- Wildfire is out of control at 5 ha. An Evacuation Alert (prepare to evacuate) was issued just after midnight of May 5.
- 13 firefighters, 2 helicopters are assigned to the wildfire
SWF-058 – East Prairie
- The wildfire is currently out of control at 950 ha and is expected to overrun SWF-063
RWF-034 – 20 km from O’Chiese Reserve
- Wildfire is out of control at 12 ha.
- There are 26 firefighters, 2 intermediate and 2 medium helicopter, and 1 airtanker working the wildfire.
RWF-031 – Bighorn Reserve
- Wildfire is out of control at 12 ha.
- There are 24 firefighters, 3 helicopters working the wildfire.
RWF-031 – 43 km SE of Edson
- The wildfire is out of control at 24,000 ha.
- Oil and gas facilities and one campground evacuated last night.
- There are 3 dozer groups on standby to action and three helicopters working the wildfire.
- Airtanker support and an ignition specialist has also been requested.

Wildfires of note do not typically include mutual aid wildfires located outside of the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. Alberta Wildfire provides assistance on a mutual aid wildfire but is not the lead agency.
