2023 carryover wildfires
There are currently three carryover fires from the 2023 wildfire season. All carryover wildfires are listed as under control. A high-level infrared scan is planned this week, weather permitting, to determine if there are any hot spots remaining before these are determined extinguished.
Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation Hazard Reduction Burn
Conditions were again favorable with more great progress and hard work from everyone involved this past weekend. To date over 50 hectares of dead grass have been removed from around the community. Removing fine fuel loading along ditches, open fields, trails and other recreation areas will lessen the risk of man-caused fires and help protect homes and community infrastructure from future wildfires.
