Moderate Wildfire Danger - Whitecourt Forest Area - June 26, 2018

WILDFIRE DANGER

Cooler temperatures and higher relative humidity keeps the wildfire danger to moderate for the Whitecourt Forest Area. Even though the danger is moderate, it is still important to be mindful of preventing wildfires when out working or enjoying the forested areas. For example, please ensure you have a permit for any burning (except campfires), within the Forest Protection Area of Alberta, and take the time to properly extinguish all burn sites, including campfires. 

Thunderstorms producing lightning are forecast to continue today; if you see smoke in the forest, report it by calling 310-FIRE (3473).

WILDFIRE SITUATION | June 26, 2018, at 3:00 p.m.

Whitecourt Forest Area

• In the last 24 hours, there was one wildfire in the Whitecourt Forest Area. Firefighters responded quickly extinguishing it at 0.01 hectares in size.

• Since March 1, 2018, there have been 44 wildfires; with a total area burnt of 12.29 hectares.

Province of Alberta

• There are 68 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. 1 is out of control, 30 are being held, 33 are under control, and 4 have been turned over to the responsible parties. Learn more about wildfire status definitions.
  
  
• Since March 1, 2018, Alberta has recorded 847 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area; with a total area burnt of 33,048.08 hectares. More information can be found at wildfirestatus.alberta.ca.
