High Wildfire Danger - Whitecourt Forest Area - June 21, 2018

WILDFIRE DANGER

Hot, dry conditions keep the wildfire danger at high for the Whitecourt Forest Area. Scattered showers and lightning are in the forecast today, but until enough rain is on the ground, the wildfire danger will rise. If you are out working or enjoying forested areas, please take the time to prevent a wildfire. 

Firefighters, helicopters, airtankers, and heavy equipment are prepared and ready to take action on any new wildfire. If you see smoke in the forest, report it by calling 310-FIRE (3473).

• Never leave your campfire unattended, and when finished, soak it, stir it, and soak it again. Learn more.

WILDFIRE SITUATION | June 21, 2018, at 2:00 p.m.

Whitecourt Forest Area

• In the last 24 hours, there was one wildfire in the Whitecourt Forest Area. Firefighters responded quickly, and it us under control at 0.01 hectares in size, no communities or structures are threatened. 

• Since March 1, 2018, there have been 39 wildfires; with a total area burnt of 11.81 hectares.

Province of Alberta

• There are 20 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. 1 is being held, 11 are under control, and 8 have been turned over to the responsible parties. Learn more about wildfire status definitions.
