The wildfire danger across the Whitecourt Forest Area remains LOW. This means that fire can still ignite but is not expected to spread to deeper vegetation layers or larger fuels, such as trees.
If you see a wildfire, report it immediately by calling 310-FIRE.

TRAINING WITH THE WHITECOURT FIRE DEPARTMENT
Earlier this week, staff from the Whitecourt Forest Area participated in a training exercise with the Whitecourt Fire Department at the Forest Interpretive Centre. The training focused on practicing sprinkler line operations and competencies. It was a great evening of training and collaboration with our neighbours.
FIRE PREMITS ARE REQUIRED
You need a fire permit for any burning in the Forest Protection Area, with the exception of campfires, until October 31. Fire permits ensure safe burning practices and helps our staff monitor approved burning locations, allowing firefighters and aircraft to focus on wildfires. Please check with your local municipality for any additional rules or restrictions before any burning takes place. Fire permits are free and can be requested online or by contacting the Whitecourt Forest Area at 780-778-7153.
