Rocky Forest Area - Wildfire Update July 16

The wildfire danger is MODERATE across the Rocky Forest Area

WILDFIRE SITUATION  |  July 16, 2018 

Rocky Forest Area

  • There is currently 1 wildfire that is under control in the Rocky Forest Area. This wildfires is 0.4 hectares in size.  
  • Since March 1, 2018 there have been 41 fires in the Rocky Forest Area that have burned a total of 8.33 hectares.

Provincial Situation

  • There are currently 19 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. 3 are being held, 10 are under control, and 6 have been turned over to the responsible parties.
  • since March 1, 2018, Alberta has recorded 927 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area that have burned a total of 46,047.01 hectares. 

  • Remember to clean your off-highway vehicle before, during and after your ride. Stop frequently and take the time to knock off debris from your machine's hot spots. If the debris is smouldering, soak it, stir it, and soak it again to make sure it's out.
