The wildfire danger in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area is LOW.
The fire restriction has been lifted for the Rocky Mountain House forest area. A fire FIRE ADVISORY is now in effect for the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area.
A fire advisory is in effect for the central portion of the Forest Protection Area, including the Rocky Mountain House forest area.
- Existing fire permits remain valid, but extension requests may not be granted.
- New permits will be issued on a case-by-case basis for essential burning only.
- Campfires are allowed in both designated campgrounds and random camping areas.
- Fireworks and exploding targets are prohibited.
We encourage any landowners who have done burning over the winter and that have had past fire permits to revisit the burn location to ensure these fires are fully extinguished.
The fire advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve or further escalation is required.
Never leave a campfire unattended. Soak it, stir it and soak it again until cool to the touch to ensure it is extinguished.

Wildfire prevention
We all have a role to play in preventing wildfires. Make sure to do your part.
When riding an off-highway vehicle, stop frequently to check your hotspots for build-up of debris. Debris from your machine can smoulder and drop to the ground while you're riding, which can start a wildfire. Ensure that you are always carrying firefighting equipment such as a shovel, extinguisher and bucket when you ride.
If you are planning to have a campfire, do so safely and remember to properly extinguish it when you are done. Soak the ashes, stir them, and soak them again until they are cool to the touch. Never leave your campfire unattended.
Wildfire update
Since January 1, 2024, there have been ten wildfires in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area, which have burned 3.31 hectares. All of these wildfires have been extinguished.
