Rocky Mountain House Forest Area Update - October 28, 2024

Please continue to use caution when spending time in forested areas as wildfires can still ignite in cooler conditions. 

If you see smoke or flame in the forest and suspect it's a wildfire, call 310-FIRE.


ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE FOREST AREA WILDFIRE UPDATE

The wildfire danger across the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area is now moderate. This means creeping or gentle surface fire is likely.

Since January 1, 2024 there have been 83 wildfires in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area, which have burned 13,102.67 hectares. 

There are no active wildfires in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area.

RWF083-08

RWF083 was discovered on October 25 and is now extinguished. It was 0.31 hectares in size and was determined to be human-caused. 


CAMPFIRE SAFETY

Hunters, please ensure warming and cooking fires are completely extinguished when you are done with them. Build campfires on bare mineral soil, away from flammable vegetation like dry grass, twigs and leaves. Soak it, stir it and soak it again when you are done with your fire to ensure it is properly extinguished.


JOIN THE 2025 WILDFIRE TEAM

Positions are now open for the 2025 wildfire season. The deadline for applications to become a wildland firefighter is November 30.
