The wildfire danger in the Peace River Forest Area is MODERATE.
ACTIVE WILDFIRE
There is an active mutual aid wildfire in the Peace River Forest Area (PMD-001). 10 wildland firefighters along with firefighters from the MD are responding to this wildfire located approximately 9 km north of Dunvegan along Hines Creek. The wildfire is approximately 2.5 hectares in size.
WILDFIRE UPDATE
Since March 1, there have been 15 wildfires burning a total of 7.5 hectares. Two of these wildfires have been turned over to the responsible party and 13 have been extinguished.
PROVINCIAL WILDFIRE UPDATE
There are currently 18 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area (FPA) of Alberta. 11 of these wildfires are under control and seven have been turned over to the responsible party.
Since March 1st, there have been 256 wildfires in the FPA, burning a total of 889.1 ha.

FIRE PERMIT
During wildfire season, you are required to have a fire permit if you plan on doing any burning in the Forest Protection Area, other than a campfire.
We urge everyone to use caution when working and recreating outdoors. Never leave your campfire unattended. Before leaving, be sure to soak your campfire, stir it and soak it again.
