The wildfire danger in the Peace River Forest Area is now VERY HIGH.
Forecasted hot and dry weather conditions have led to a fire advisory for the Peace River Forest Area. Please monitor this update for any changes in the wildfire danger level.
Since March 1, there have been 24 wildfires in the Peace River Forest Area burning a total of 8.57 hectares. Six of these wildfires has been turned over to the responsible party and 18 have been extinguished.
PROVINCIAL WILDFIRE UPDATE
There are currently 18 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area (FPA) of Alberta. Nine are under control and nine have been turned over to the responsible party.
Since March 1st, there have been 441 wildfires in the FPA, burning a total of 1,028.15 ha.

During wildfire season, you are required to have a fire permit if you plan on doing any burning in the Forest Protection Area, other than a campfire.
We urge everyone to use caution when working and recreating outdoors. Never leave your campfire unattended. Before leaving, be sure to soak your campfire, stir it and soak it again.
