The wildfire hazard for the Lac La Biche area is MODERATE.

We had no new fires this week.  There are still a couple of fires from earlier in the season on patrol status.

The forecast for the next few days is continuing warm and windy.  The humidity is moderate, which is helping to keep the the wildfire danger under control, but the warm temperatures and winds are drying the surface fuels, meaning there is potential for wildfire.

campfire_extinguishAt this time of year it's really important to take the time to put your campfires out!  You might think it's cool and damp and the fire will go out on its own, but it's more likely that the fire will continue to smoulder and dig down into the ground.  The smouldering can get into organi matter under the surface, like leaves and roots, be covered by snow and then become a big problem in the Spring.  So please take the time to Soak It, Stir It, Soak It Again and make sure your campfire is out before you leave it.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
