Wildfire Hazard drops to Low with recent rainfall

Due to the amount of rain received in the High Level Forest Area over the past few days the wildfire hazard is Low.

BURN IT, WITH A PERMIT

Remember, all fires in the Forest Protection Area excluding campfires, require a permit. To get a free fire permit and information regarding safe burning practices please contact the High Level Wildfire Forest Area at 780-926-5407. Please call in advance and leave a detailed message with your name, home location, burn location, what you plan to burn and the date and time you need the burn permit for.

WILDFIRE UPDATE JUNE 17, 2016 AT 1530HRS

The High Level Forest Area currently has four active wildfires, two are being held meaning the wildfire is not anticipated to grow past expected boundaries and two are listed as under control. To see a map of locations please click here.

Since April 1, 2016 there have been 102 wildfires in the High Level Forest Area with a total of 751 hectares burned.

RIDE DEBRIS FREE

The hot areas on your OHV can collect dried grasses and other debris and start a wildfire.  

  • Please clean your quad regularly throughout the day and carry a bucket with you to help in the event of a starting a wildfire.  
  • Stop frequently and check behind you for hot spots.
  • If you start a fire with your OHV, call 310-FIRE immediately.
