SMOKE CONCERNS

With the official end of the 2016 fire season an increase in debris burning will occur. This raises the concern of smoke in the area, and the effects of lingering smoke on the general public. Anyone with health related issues or concerns are advised to contact Alberta Health Link by visiting their website or by calling 811.

WINTER BURNING

If you will be burning this winter, please be aware of who you may be affecting by doing so. The smoke not only impacts yourself, but can impact your neighbours, the travelling public, and the overall health of those in surrounding communities.

If you do plan on burning, please do your part to ensure that your piles are clear of dirt and debris that may cause the pile to smoke and linger for a long period of time. Ensure that you are checking on your piles periodically, and if at all possible, please work your piles so they do not sit and smoulder all winter.

Before you ignite the piles, please ensure that you acquire proper signage for roadways near your burn site, and if there is the potential that the area could be impacted by smoke, it is your responsibility to place signage to warn incoming   vehicles. These signs can be acquired from either Mackenzie County or La Prairie group, so please get in contact with them prior to ignition.
