Today the wildfire hazard will remain high as the probability of lightning and gusty 40km/hr wind is in the forecast.

In the past 24 hours the Grande Prairie Wildfire Management Area has had one new wildfire. GWF-038 located south east of Musreau Lake is currently listed as Under Control at 2.0 hectares, wildfire crews worked into the night to bring the blaze under control.

Expect smoke in the air from an out of control wildfire burning in the Willmore Wilderness Park, smoke will continue drifting into the area for the next few days. Anyone with health concerns should check the Alberta health services website or call 811 for 24/7 health advise from health link Alberta. PERMITS ARE REQUIRED: Get your free fire permit and check conditions before burning. If you have already burned please recheck your piles to make sure they are completely extinguished.

Burning brush or grass for clean up around your home can be dangerous. Just one careless moment can lead to a wildfire and threaten people, houses and even your community. Be careful with all fires, and if it's windy - don't burn!

Remember that you must evaluate the weather at your specific location.  You can be held responsible if a fire escapes the burn permit area.To get a free permit contact your local forestry office. For a permit contact: Spirit River (780) 814-1983 Valleyview (780) 524-6576 County West & Grovedale (780) 814-1648 or call your local forestry office (780) 538-5560
