The wildfire danger for the Grande Prairie Forest Area is now HIGH. When wildfire danger is high fires can ignite easily and spread rapidly. It is important to exercise extreme caution while working or recreating in Alberta’s forests.

Equipment fires; work related sparks; friction and hot exhaust all can cause a wildfire. If you see a wildfire, report it immediately by calling 310-FIRE.

Fire Permits

During wildfire season, you are required to have a fire permit if you plan on burning in the Forest Protection Area (FPA), with the exception of a campfire. To request your fire permit, contact the local forest area. Do not burn during windy conditions. Anyone living outside the FPA can contact their municipality for information about local fire permit requirements.
