Rockslide Creek wildfire in the Willmore Wilderness Park (EWF-054)
Updated June 18, 11:30 a.m.: Firefighters are making progress putting out hot areas along the north and south edges of the wildfire. The wildfire is located 24 kilometres south of Grande Cache. There is no threat to the community or to the Rock Lake area.
Firefighters have contained the wildfire burning in the Willmore Wilderness Park. Given the current weather forecast and the work done by firefighters to prevent the spread, the wildfire is not anticipated to grow past predetermined boundaries.
Currently, Alberta Parks has not closed any trails. Check Alberta Parks for advisories before heading out to the Willmore.
There are approximately seven helicopters and 100 firefighters fighting this wildfire.
Smoke may be visible from Grande Cache throughout the summer and may again drift into the area. Anyone seeking health information and advice can contact Health Link Alberta by dialing 811. Check the smoke forecast for western Canada.
The wildifre has been accurately mapped at 12,052 hectares. An estimated 250 hectares of the wildfire has burned into Jasper National Park (JNP). JNP firefighters are working with Alberta firefighters to put out hot areas on the south edge of the wildfire.
Here is the most updated map of the wildfire. The green lines show the trails in the area. No trails have been impacted by the wildfire.

Other municipalities may have fire bans in place. Check www.albertafirebans.ca before doing any burning.
