The wildfire danger is LOW across the entire Edson Forest Area thanks to this much needed rain. We ask that you always use caution when burning and follow the conditions of your burn permits.
If you seem smoke in the forest, report it by calling 310-FIRE (3473).

WILDFIRE SITUATION | July 2, 2018, at 4:00 p.m.
The Quigley Creek Wildfire (EWF-077) - Classified as being held at 1,274 hectares in size. No communities are threatened.
In the past 24 hours, the Quigley Creek fire seen consistent light precipitation which is greatly helping fire fighters extinguish the smoldering hot spots.
Thanks to the hard work of firefighters, the classification of the wildfire is being held; meaning the wildfire is not expected to move beyond predetermined boundaries.
Location of the wildfire has not changed since the evening of June 28, 2018; it remains approximately:
- 15 km south east of Hinton
- 28 km north west of Robb
- 60 km south west of Edson
- 6 km from McLeod Campground (Km 35 Robb Road)

What is expected today: the fire received approximately 8 mm of rain over night and throughout the day. With cooler temperatures and more rain in the forecast, we aren't expecting a lot of fire behavior today.
100 firefighters, 3 helicopters and a few pieces of heavy equipment will continue to focus on the perimeter of the wildfire, extinguishing smoldering ground fires; reinforcing the fireguard.
The helicopters are no longer bucketing but will continue to move crews and assist with overview flights of the fire.
Since March 1, 2018, there have been 83 wildfires in the Edson Forest Area; burning a total of 1,301.39 hectares.

Albertans are always asked to use caution when out working or enjoying the forest within the Forest Protection Area. Please remember to:
- Clear debris from hot spots on your Off-Highway Vehicle.
- Ensure your campfire is out - Soak it, Stir it, Soak it Again.
