The fire danger in the Edson Forest Area (EFA) is Very High.
Wildfire EWF-077 is currently burning out of control (OC) approximately 15 kilometers south east of Hinton, AB and moving towards the east.
The fire is currently;
- 15 kms south east of Hinton
- 28 kms north west of Robb
- 60 kms west/south west of Edson.
There are no communities at risk at this time.
The size is now estimated at 350 hectares and winds are coming from the west. There are airtankers dropping retardant and helicopters bucketing on this wildfire. 25 fire fighters and heavy equipment are working hard to contain this wildfire. We are doing our best right now to bring the fire under control as quickly as possible. Our firefighters are world-class and they are fighting the fire as best they can right now.

High winds and no precipitation is driving the wildfire danger up to Very High. We would like to remind everyone to use extreme caution when having a campfire. Sparks can land in dry debris and start a wildfire. Are resources are currently busy fighting wildfire 077. Always ensure you have water accessible and never leave your fire unattended.
A reminder to follow the conditions of your permit if burning.
BURN IT WITH A PERMIT
Fire permits are required for any burning (except campfires) in the Forest Protection Area (FPA) of Alberta. Contact your local Agriculture and Forestry office to schedule a site visit to obtain a free permit. Fire permits ensure safe burning practices and allow staff to know where burning is approved so firefighters and aircraft are free to fight wildfires.

Edson Forest Area:
There is currently 1 wildfire in the EFA. Since March 1, 2018 there have been 75 wildfires in the EFA that have burned approximately 27.23 hectares in total.
Provincial Stats:
- There are currently 51 new wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. 25 wildfires are under control (UC), four are out of control (OC) 16 are being held (BH), and six wildfires have been turned over to the responsible parties.
- Since March 1, 2018, Alberta had recorded 661 wildfires as of Friday and now is reporting 854 as of today. The Forest Protection Area has burned a total of 37,955.07 hectares.

WILDFIRE PREVENTION TIPS
Albertans are always asked to use caution when recreating within the FPA:
- Clear debris from hot spots on your Off-Highway Vehicle.
- Ensure your campfire is out - Soak it, Stir it, Soak it Again.
