NOTICE: ACTIVE WILDFIRE AREA - CWF-156-2020 (DEVIL'S HEAD)
The Devil’s Head wildfire (CWF-156-2020) status remains Under Control at an assessed size of 2420.0 hectares burned. Alberta Agriculture and Forestry is continuing to actively monitor the wildfire area during the off-season.
Burned areas should be avoided as they present a safety hazard due to standing dead or leaning trees that can fall without warning.
Note that smoke may occasionally be visible from smouldering hot spots depending on weather conditions throughout the fall and winter.
Any observed increased fire activity such as open flame can be reported by calling 310-FIRE.
PROVINCIAL SUMMARY - 2020
From March 1 to October 31 in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta, there were 703 wildfires that burned a total of 3265.31 hectares. During the 2019 season, there were 989 wildfires that burned 791,836.11 hectares.
