The average wildfire danger across the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) is now HIGH with some areas pushing into VERY HIGH. Widespread precipitation has given way to above average conditions. Warm temperatures and gusty winds are driving up the wildfire danger. The forecast is calling for a return to very warm temperatures with no anticipated precipitation. As the grass continues to cure (die and dry out), it (and other dry vegetation) can provide extra fuel for fast moving wildfires.

ACTIVE WILDFIRES IN THE CFA

CWF-057 (Fallentimber Fire) is UNDER CONTROL at 48.8 hectares. It is located approximately 25 km west of Water Valley.

Since January 1, the CFA has responded to 77 wildfires which have burned 63.46 hectares.

Our patrol staff generally saw safe campfire practices over the long weekend. They did however discover 6 abandoned campfires and extinguished them.
