The average wildfire danger across the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) has climbed to MODERATE to HIGH. The forecast is calling for above seasonal temperatures this week, with the possibility of strong, gusty winds. There is ample fine fuel (such as dead grasses and small plants) available for fast moving surface fires.
ACTIVE WILDFIRES IN THE CFA
There are currently no active wildfires in the CFA.
Since January 1, the CFA has responded to 80 wildfires which have burned 63.71 hectares.
PROVINCIAL WILDFIRE SUMMARY (as of 10:00 am September 23, 2024)
- Since January 1, there have been 1,161 wildfires recorded in the Forest Protection Area that have burned 708,119 hectares (ha).
- There are currently 59 active wildfires in the Forest Protection Area. Of these wildfires, 15 are being held and 44 are under control.
- There remains one carryover wildfire from the 2023 season.
