The wildfire danger across the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) is VERY HIGH. A slightly cooler week with lighter winds has moderated the wildfire danger somewhat. Very warm temperatures and stronger winds are forecast through the long weekend.
FIRE ADVISORY
A FIRE ADVISORY is now in effect for the Calgary Forest Area due to very dry conditions and no anticipated precipitation. Under this fire advisory:
- Existing fire permits are suspended.
- No new fire permits will be issued.
- Campfires are allowed but should be kept small, attended at all times and must be fully extinguished.
- Fireworks and exploding targets are prohibited.
This FIRE ADVISORY will remain in effect until conditions improve or further escalation is required.
WILDFIRES IN THE CFA
There are currently no active wildfires in the CFA.
CWF-085 was extinguished on September 7 at 0.01 hectares.
Since January 1, the CFA has responded to 85 wildfires which have burned 64.38 hectares.
CWF-085 was extinguished on October 7 and the cause remains under investigation. Thanks to a quick response, this wildfire was not able to burn further into nearby dry vegetation.

Alberta Wildfire relies on a variety of detection methods to allow us to respond quickly to new wildfires. You can help by reporting wildfires to 310-FIRE. The sooner a wildfire is detected, the sooner we can respond with appropriate resources.
