The wildfire danger across the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) remains EXTREME, particularly in southern regions. There has been no significant precipitation across the area for many days and there is substantial dry fuel available to burn. The forecast is calling for continued dry conditions and gusty winds with warm temperatures expected into the latter part of the week. If a wildfire ignites in these conditions, it has the potential to spread very quickly and exhibit unpredictable fire behaviour.
WILDFIRES IN THE CFA
There are currently no active wildfires in the CFA.
CWF-083 and CWF-084 were both detected and extinguished at 0.01 hectares.
Since January 1, the CFA has responded to 84 wildfires which have burned 64.37 hectares.
CWF-083 was detected on October 6. This campfire was abandoned and escaped the fire ring. It was quickly extinguished by wildland firefighters, but with substantial cured grass nearby, it had the potential to grow very quickly.
SOAK IT, STIR IT, SOAK IT AGAIN
Please do your part to prevent wildfires. If you are having a campfire in these conditions, please be certain that it is attended at all times and be sure it is fully extinguished!
