CURRENT CONDITIONS IN THE CALGARY FOREST AREA
The average wildfire danger in the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) remains MODERATE. The beautiful fall weather has allowed forest fuels to further dry out. More seasonal temperatures are expected with excellent overnight recovery. Some precipitation is expected in the longer term which will help moderate the wildfire danger.
A FIRE ADVISORY remains in effect for the Calgary Forest Area. Fire permits are only being issued on a case-by-case basis.
WILDFIRES IN THE CFA
There are currently no active wildfires in the CFA.
Since January 1, the CFA has responded to 163 wildfires which burned a total of 14.00 hectares.
LAST LONG WEEKEND OF THE 2022 WILDFIRE SEASON
We are thankful to all the responsible campers and outdoor recreationalists who fully extinguished their campfires over this past wildfire season. Please help us finish strong with this last long weekend of the year. A reminder that fireworks and exploding targets are PROHIBITED. The devices used near dead vegetation, which is at an abundance at this time of year, have a higher likelihood of igniting a wildfire. Do not take the chance. Wildfires spreading through dead grass and other vegetation can be extremely fast moving and volatile.
WILDFIRE DASHBOARD
The wildfire dashboard provides up-to-date wildfire information at the click of a button. This interactive tool displays important statistics on the number of active wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta, sizes, locations, suspected causes and more.
The dashboard builds on the former wildfire status map by displaying the most frequently accessed information in one convenient location.
