The wildfire danger across the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) is expected to be EXTREME over the coming days. Very strong and gusty winds are anticipated to begin today. These winds, combined with above seasonal temperatures and a lack of precipitation are causing a sharp increase in the wildfire danger. There is substantial dry fuel available to burn at this time of year. If a wildfire ignites in these conditions, it has the potential to spread very quickly and exhibit unpredictable fire behaviour.
WILDFIRES IN THE CFA
There are currently no active wildfires in the CFA.
Since January 1, the CFA has responded to 82 wildfires which have burned 64.35 hectares.
REPORTING WILDFIRES
The sooner a wildfire is detected, the sooner we can respond with appropriate resources and ideally bring it under control quickly. Please help in that goal by reporting wildfires to 310-FIRE. With the extreme conditions anticipated over the coming days, it is critical that any new wildfires are actioned quickly.
WILDFIRE DASHBOARD
