The wildfire danger across the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) is now LOW. Colder temperatures, accompanied with rain and snow have begun to set in. Although warmer temperatures are expected again by the weekend, these current conditions will help to drop the wildfire danger in the short term.

Fire Advisory 1

FIRE ADVISORY

The FIRE ADVISORY remains in effect for the Calgary Forest Area due to very dry conditions and no anticipated precipitation. Under this fire advisory:

  • Existing fire permits are suspended.
  • No new fire permits will be issued.
  • Campfires are allowed but should be kept small, attended at all times and must be fully extinguished.
  • Fireworks and exploding targets are prohibited.

This FIRE ADVISORY will remain in effect until conditions improve or further escalation is required.

Please visit albertafirebans.ca for information information on fire advisories, fire restrictions and fire bans across the province.

WILDFIRES IN THE CFA

There are currently no active wildfires in the CFA.

Since January 1, the CFA has responded to 85 wildfires which have burned 64.38 hectares.

Fire Danger Very High AutumnAlthough cooler nighttime temperatures are becoming common, there has been virtually no precipitation. With the grass continuing to cure and dry leaves falling from the trees, there is ample dry fuel available to burn. The fire advisory will remain in place until conditions improve.

REPORT WILDFIRES

Alberta Wildfire relies on a variety of detection methods to allow us to respond quickly to new wildfires. You can help by reporting wildfires to 310-FIRE. The sooner a wildfire is detected, the sooner we can respond with appropriate resources.
