The average wildfire danger in the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) is now LOW. After several days of hot and dry conditions, cooler temperatures have set in and many areas received enough precipitation to drop the wildfire danger in the short term.

LONG WEEKEND WRAP-UP

We had a few problem areas where campfires were left abandoned or improperly extinguished, but generally we saw high compliance and cooperation. Thank you to those who soaked, stirred and soaked their campfires before leaving.

CALGARY FOREST AREA WILDFIRES TO DATE

The CFA has responded to 33 wildfires this season which have burned 4.61 hectares. They have all been extinguished.

FIRE PERMITS

You can request your fire permit online or by phone.  Fire permits are required for any burning, except campfires, in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. Fire permits help us to track what is burning on the landscape. If you're burning without a fire permit or outside fire permit conditions, your fire is considered a wildfire.

To request a fire permit online, visit the portal. You will need a MyAlberta Digital ID to access the portal. Please note that you can still request your permit from the Calgary Forest Area main office by calling 403-297-8800.
