The average wildfire danger across the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) is now MODERATE. Weather systems have started to move through the area but not all of our gauges have yet seen precipitation and those areas remain HIGH to VERY HIGH. Gusty warm winds have calmed to cooler temperatures in much of the area.
WILDFIRES IN THE CFA
There are currently no active wildfires in the CFA.
Since January 1, the CFA has responded to 51 wildfires which have burned 12.50 hectares.
PROVINCIAL WILDFIRE SUMMARY (as of 10:00 am June 27, 2024)
- Since January 1, there have been 482 wildfires recorded in the Forest Protection Area that have burned 31,318.6 hectares (ha).
- There are currently 17 active wildfires in the Forest Protection Area. One is classified as out of control, two are being held and 14 are under control.
- There are currently four carryover wildfires from the 2023 season.

LONG WEEKEND REMINDERS
Albertafirebans.ca should be part of your long weekend planning. Although there are currently no fire restrictions or fire bans in effect in the Calgary Forest Area, conditions can change quickly. Always check Alberta Fire Bans to see if your destination may be impacted.
Fireworks are PROHIBITED in the Forest Protection Area. This includes random camping areas in the Ghost, Porcupine Hills and Livingstone Public Land Use Zones. Anyone who sets off fireworks without written permission could face a $600 fine.
Campfires must be attended at all times and fully extinguished before you leave. To properly extinguish a campfire, soak it, stir the ashes and soak it again. It should be cool to the touch.
