The average wildfire danger across the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) has climbed to HIGH with some areas pushing into VERY HIGH. The lack of precipitation, a continuation of warm temperatures combined with strong and gusty winds will see this high wildfire danger persist through the week.
WILDFIRES IN THE CFA
There are currently no active wildfires in the CFA.
Since January 1, the CFA has responded to 51 wildfires which have burned 12.50 hectares.
PROVINCIAL WILDFIRE SUMMARY (as of 10:00 am June 24, 2024)
- Since January 1, there have been 437 wildfires recorded in the Forest Protection Area that have burned 31,502.77 hectares (ha).
- There are currently 19 active wildfires in the Forest Protection Area. Two are classified as out of control, two are being held and 10 are under control.
- There are currently five carryover wildfires from the 2023 season.

LONG WEEKEND REMINDERS
Albertafirebans.ca should be part of your long weekend planning. Although there are currently no Fire Restrictions or Fire Bans in effect in the Calgary Forest Area, things can change quickly. Always check albertafirebans.ca to see if your destination may be impacted.
Fireworks are PROHIBITED in the Forest Protection Area. This includes random camping areas in the Ghost, Porcupine Hills and Livingstone Public Land Use Zones.
Campfires must be attended at all times and fully extinguished before you leave. To properly extinguish a campfire, soak it, stir the ashes and soak it again. It should be cool to the touch.
