The average wildfire danger in the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) remains LOW. The cooler, more unsettled weather gave precipitation to most corners of the area. Some pockets of MODERATE to HIGH remain where less precipitation has fallen, particularly in the far South.

FIRE RESTRICTION LIFTED IN CFA

The FIRE RESTRICTION that had been in place for several weeks has been lifted as of 2:00 pm on June 22. Thank you for your cooperation and patience while the fire restriction was in effect. Signage will be removed in the impacted areas over the coming days. A reminder that fireworks and exploding targets remain PROHIBITED.

The CFA will once again be issuing fire permits.

Please continue to visit albertafirebans.ca as other jurisdictions may have other restrictions or bans in place.

CALGARY FOREST AREA WILDFIRES TO DATE

The CFA has responded to 23 wildfires this season which have burned 4.51 hectares. They have all been extinguished.

FIRE PERMITS

You can request your fire permit online or by phone.  Fire permits are required for any burning, except campfires, in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. Fire permits help us to track what is burning on the landscape. If you're burning without a fire permit or outside fire permit conditions, your fire is considered a wildfire.

To request a fire permit online, visit the portal. You will need a MyAlberta Digital ID to access the portal. Please note that you can still request your permit from the Calgary Forest Area main office by calling 403-297-8800.
