The average wildfire danger across the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) is now LOW. Many areas received extensive precipitation providing much needed moisture. This wide spread rain over the forest area resulted in a lower fire danger.
WILDFIRES IN THE CFA
There are currently no active wildfires in the CFA.
Since January 1, the CFA has responded to 52 wildfires which have burned 12.51 hectares.
PROVINCIAL WILDFIRE SUMMARY (as of 10:00 am July 2, 2024)
- Since January 1, there have been 540 wildfires recorded in the Forest Protection Area that have burned 34,086.02 hectares (ha).
- Since our last report on July 1 2024, there have been 29 new wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta.
- There are currently 46 active wildfires in the Forest Protection Area. 11 are classified as out of control, 14 are being held and 21 are under control.
- There are currently 4 carryover wildfires from the 2023 season.

LONG WEEKEND REMINDERS
Albertafirebans.ca should be part of your long weekend planning. Although there are currently no fire restrictions or fire bans in effect in the Calgary Forest Area, conditions can change quickly. Always check Alberta Fire Bans to see if your destination may be impacted.
Fireworks are PROHIBITED in the Forest Protection Area. This includes random camping areas in the Ghost, Porcupine Hills and Livingstone Public Land Use Zones. Anyone who sets off fireworks without written permission could face a $600 fine.
This July Long weekend reflected responsible use of recreational campfires. Our patrols discovered no abandoned campfires and 1 unattended campfire.
