The wildfire danger in the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) remains HIGH. The weekend brought some relief as temperatures were cooler and some areas received showers and thundershowers. This helped to moderate the wildfire danger, particularly in the southern portions of the CFA, but only for the short term. The forecast is once again calling for several days of warm temperatures and low relative humidity. The wildfire danger will continue to climb over the coming days.
DO YOUR PART
Alberta Wildfire relies on early detection of wildfires to ensure a quick response. One resource we use is public reporting. If you spot a wildfire, please report it to 310-FIRE. This helps our crews respond quickly and action any new wildfires while they are still small.
Please be sure to fully extinguish your campfire by soaking it, stirring it and soaking again. Campfires must be attended at all times and fully extinguished when you leave. Leaving a campfire unattended or abandoned could land you a $600 written violation and if you cause a wildfire you could be held responsible for the costs of extinguishing that wildfire.
And remember that fireworks and exploding targets are PROHIBITED in the Forest Protection Area without the express written permission from a Forest Officer.
WILDFIRES IN THE CFA
There are currently no active wildfires in the CFA.
Since January 1, the CFA has responded to 106 wildfires which burned a total of 13.01 hectares.
WILDFIRE DASHBOARD
The wildfire dashboard provides up-to-date wildfire information at the click of a button. This interactive tool displays important statistics on the number of active wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta, sizes, locations, suspected causes and more.
The dashboard builds on the former wildfire status map by displaying the most frequently accessed information in one convenient location.
