The average wildfire danger in the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) is MODERATE overall, but pockets of VERY HIGH to EXTREME remain. The storm cells moving through have given more precipitation coverage across the forest area helping to moderate the wildfire danger in the short term. The forecast is calling for an extended period of hot temperatures and dry conditions.  It is anticipated that the wildfire danger will rebound quickly.

Our crews responded quickly and this wildfire is now classified as BEING HELD at 0.2 hectares.  Please report any wildfires you see to 310-FIRE.

FIRE PERMITS

You can request your fire permit online or by phone.  Fire permits are required for any burning, except campfires, in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. Fire permits help us to track what is burning on the landscape. If you're burning without a fire permit or outside fire permit conditions, your fire is considered a wildfire.

To request a fire permit online, visit the portal. You will need a MyAlberta Digital ID to access the portal. Please note that you can still request your permit from the Calgary Forest Area main office by calling 403-297-8800.
