The wildfire danger across the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) is now MODERATE. The overall wildfire danger remains low, however above seasonal temperatures and strong winds have accelerated the snow melt. Exposed areas of dead grass are of particular concern and can carry fast moving wildfires.

ACTIVE WILDFIRE IN THE CFA

CWF-008 is now UNDER CONTROL at 16.67 hectares and the cause remains under investigation. The wildfire did not grow substantially. Smoke and terrain were factors in the initial size assessment and once crews were able to bring this wildfire under control, more accurate mapping was conducted.

Highway 1A is open. Please check Alberta 511 for the latest information.

For municipal updates, please see the Municipal District of Bighorn website.
