CURRENT CONDITIONS IN THE CALGARY FOREST AREA

The average fire danger rating across the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) is MODERATE. Widespread precipitation occurred over the last two days. The forecast is calling for several days of extremely hot conditions with no further precipitation. These predicted conditions will increase the fire danger rating quite quickly.

ACTIVE WILDFIRES IN THE CFA

There are no active wildfires in the CFA.  In the past week, one wildfire was reported. It was extinguished at 0.01 hectares.

REPORTING WILDFIRES

A crucial part of our wildfire detection program is the public reporting of smoke and wildfires.  With the anticipated increase in fire danger rating, it will be very important to assess and respond to any new wildfires as quickly as possible. Please continue to report wildfires to 310-FIRE.

FIRE PERMITS

As of March 1, fire permits are required for any burning, except campfires, in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. By getting a permit you help keep our firefighters free to fight real wildfires instead of responding to the smoke in your backyard. Fire permits are free and can be requested from the Calgary Forest Area office by calling 403-297-8800.
