Calgary Forest Area Wildfire Update - August 17, 2021

CURRENT CONDITIONS IN THE CALGARY FOREST AREA

Over the past 24-36 hours, the CFA has received widespread rain across the area. This wide band of precipitation has dropped the fire danger to LOW.


WILDFIRES IN THE CFA

There is currently one active wildfire in the CFA. 

CWF-108 is classified as UNDER CONTROL at 6 hectares.  This wildfire is located on the south side of highway 1 near Dead Man's Flats. Wildland firefighters will continue suppressing this wildfire with helicopter support as needed. The cause of the wildfire remains under investigation.

SMOKE CONCERNS

Many municipalities across southern Alberta continue to be impacted by smoke and poor air quality. Please be aware that this smoke is not being produced by any active wildfires in Alberta.  FireSmoke.ca is a service that can produce forecasts of hourly ground-level concentrations of smoke from wildfires.

If you have health related smoke concerns, please call Alberta Health Services at 811.
