Wildfire situation in the Slave Lake Forest Area
There have been no new wildfires in the past 24 hours.
Since April 1st there have been 188 wildfires in the Slave Lake Forest Area and the total area burned is just over 2252 hectares. Of the 188 wildfires 110 were caused by lightning, 70 caused by human activity and 8 remain under investigation.

Fire permits are free and can be obtained by calling your local Alberta Agriculture and Forestry office.

Campfires do not require a fire permit.
Incendiary shooting targets have been banned across the province.These targets explode when shot with a firearm and have been known to cause wildfires.
To prevent wildfires when using farm equipment ensure your machine is clear of flammable crop residue, check for sparks frequently and carry firefighting equipment on board.
