Due to recent precipitation and weather conditions, the wildfire danger for the Whitecourt Forest Area is LOW.


Wildfire Update - May 16, 2019

Since March 1, there have been 19 wildfires in the Whitecourt Forest Area burning a total of 6.78 hectares. 1 wildfire has been turned over to the responsible parties and 18 have been extinguished.
 
Since March 1 in the Province of Alberta, there have been 330 wildfires burning a total of 3,568.21 hectares.

If you are out using an off-highway vehicle in the forested areas stop often and remove debris from your hotspots. Exhaust systems can heat up to temperatures in excess of 204 degrees Celsius - hot enough to fry an egg and start a wildfire.
