Winter Burning

Fire permits are no longer required for burning, however you are still responsible for any fires you light in the winter.

A fire left smouldering can burn underground all winter long and cause a wildfire in the spring.Firefighters urge you to go back and check your winter burns to ensure they are extinguished.

Before conducting your winter burning review Brush Piles and Windrows Safe Burning Practices.

Please report your winter burn locations to our Wildfire Technologist Russell Murphy by calling 780-849-7457.

McMillan Wildfire

Wildfire Investigators from Alberta Agriculture and Forestry and Investigators from the RCMP's Forestry Crimes Unit have determined the cause of the wildfire to be arson.

If you are a witness to this act or have information, please report it to by calling 1-833-999-FIRE (3473).A reward may be given for information leading to an arrest.
