Winter Burning Advisory - Slave Lake Area

The weather forecast is calling for warm temperatures and strong gusty winds for today and Saturday. Under these warm and windy conditions a fire will ignite easily and spread quickly in areas of dead dry grass.

If you have conducted burning this winter, go back and check your burns to ensure they are extinguished and refrain from igniting any new burns for the next two days.

To report a wildfire call 310-FIRE(3473).  

Wildfire Season has ended

The 2019 wildfire season in Alberta officially ended on October 31st.Fire permits are no longer required for burning, however you are still responsible for any fires you light in the winter.

A fire left smouldering can burn underground all winter long and cause a wildfire in the spring.Firefighters urge you to go back and check your winter burns to ensure they are extinguished.

McMillan Wildfire

Wildfire Investigators from Alberta Agriculture and Forestry and Investigators from the RCMP's Forestry Crimes Unit have determined the cause of the wildfire to be arson.

If you are a witness to this act or have information, please report it to by calling 1-833-999-FIRE (3473).A reward may be given for information leading to an arrest.
