Rocky Mountain House Area Update

Wildfire Hazard Moderate in Rocky Mountain House Area

Posted on Fri, Oct 09, 2015

While the current wildfire hazard level in the Rocky Mountain House Wildfire Management Area (RMHWMA) is MODERATE, forecasted weather includes strong winds that could increase the hazard to high or extreme in parts of the region. Pleae take appropriate precautions if you are in the forested areas this weekend and if you see a wildfire, call 310-FIRE (3473).

There have been 124 wildfires in the RMHWMA since April 1 - all have been extinguished. Thanks for doing your part to keep Rocky wildfire free.  If you are going out this weekend, make sure your campfire is out by soaking it, stirring it and soak it again.

All fires, excluding campfires, require a permit.  You can get your free permit at your local Agriculture and Forestry office or call 403-845-8272.  Remember to follow the conditions of your permit and to evaluate the weather at your specific location before you start your burn.
