Rocky Mountain House Wildfire Update - Fire Restriction lifted - September 13

FIRE RESTRICTION LIFTED

The Fire Restriction has been lifted in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area (RMHFA).  Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfires.

Fire Permits

A fire permit is required for any burning in the Forest Protection Area, excluding campfires.

To obtain your free fire permit, please call the Rocky Forest Area permit line at (403) 845-8581.

LOCAL WILDFIRE UPDATE

Rocky Wildfire 68

This wildfire west of Burnstick Lake is now classified as being held. Being held means that under current weather conditions and resources, the wildfire is not anticipated to grow past expected boundaries.  Once the rain lets up our firefighters will continue their efforts to extinguish this wildfire as quickly as possible. The Bighorn Wildfire Complex

RWF-062 in the Coral Creek valley is being held at approximately 842 hectares,
RWF-063 near Canary Mountain is being held at approximately 628 hectares, and 
RWF-065 near Crescent Falls is now classified as under controlThis means that this wildfire is completely contained and will be extinguished.

There are a total of 18 firefighters, 4 helicopters and heavy equipment working on these wildfires in the Bighorn Wildfire Complex RCX-001.

TRAIL CLOSURE INFORMATION:

Coral Creek valley and White Rabbit Trail/Hummingbird areas will remain closed to the public until the rain and snow lets up and we can get back in to assess the status of these wildfires.
