Ravenbrood Prescribed Fire & Where are the Fish?

Agriculture and Forestry will be conducting a prescribed fire at the Ravenbrood Trout Station, located approximately 10 kilometres south of Caroline. Operations are expected to commence in the morning of April 13 or 14 pending weather conditions.

Provincial Wildfire Situation
- In the past 24 hours there have been six new wildfires. Two are under control, one has been turned over to the responsible party, and three have been extinguished.
- From Friday morning to Monday morning there were 31 wildfires. One is being held, six are under control, three have been turned over to the responsible party, and 21 have been extinguished.
- Alberta currently has 14 wildfires. One is being held, seven are under control, and six have been turned over to the responsible party.
-Since April 1, 2016, Alberta has recorded 65 wildfires that have burned a total of 122.45 hectares.

Rocky Forest Area Wildfire Situation
There are currently four wildfires:
RWF - 008 under control 0.5 hectare
RWF - 014 being held     5.0 hectare
RWF - 017 under control 0.01 hectare
RWF - 018 under control 0.20 hectare


Extra Caution Required In The Newly Exposed Dry Grass  

The snow has melted away, exposing the dry grasses from last fall.  These dry grasses are very easy to ignite and wildfires will spread very quickly in these conditions.  Please exercise caution and remember all human fires are preventable
