Wildfire Danger LOW for Lac La Biche Forest Area - August 8, 2019

The wildfire danger in the Lac La Biche Forest Area remains LOW. 

Rain and damp conditions are keeping our wildfire danger at LOW for the Lac La Biche Forest Area.  

Your next update will be on Thursday, August 15, unless conditions change in the meantime.

Current Situation

There are currently no active wildfires in the Lac La Biche Area.  

We haven't had any new wildfires for a few days now. We are always watchful for smoke or fire resulting from lightning.  So far this season we've had 140 wildfires in the area.

The Provincial Situation

  • There are currently 24 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta.  9 are being held, 9 are under control and 6 have been turned over to the responsible parties.
  • Since March 1, 2019, Alberta has recorded 928 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta that have burned a total of 869,247 hectares.
  • Firefighters from British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec are working on wildfires in the Province.

It's lightning season. Help us get the jump on these fires early, before they have a chance to get too big.  If you see smoke or fire in the forest, please call 310-FIRE.
