The wildfire danger rating in the Lac La Biche Forest Area is now LOW.


WILDFIRE UPDATE

The Lac La Biche Forest Area continues to assistance with a mutual aid wildfire outside the Forest Protection Area in the County of Thorhild. Assistance was requested from the County on May 15. Alberta Wildfire has nine wildland firefighters working on this wildfire.


There are currently two wildfires in the Lac La Biche Forest Area. Both of these wildfires are under control.

Since March 1, there have been 81 wildfires in the Lac La Biche Forest Area, burning a total of 167.88 ha.

The Lac La Biche Forest Area has a number of wildland firefighting crews, eight helicopters and various pieces of heavy equipment available to fight any wildfires.  

PROVINCIAL WILDFIRE UPDATE

Since March 1 in the Forest Protection Area, there have been 297 wildfires, burning a total of 915.99 ha.

FIRE ADVISORY LIFTED

The fire advisory in the Lac La Biche Forest Area has now been lifted. However, no new fire permits will be issued for non-essential heavy burning.  All other fire permit requests will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

OHV SAFETY

If you are operating an off-highway vehicle, remember to stop often and check hotspots. Exhaust systems can heat up in excess of 204 degrees, hot enough to fry an egg and start a wildfire.
