High Level Area Update

The fire danger for the High Level Forest Area is low. Please use caution while riding an OHV in grassy areas and please remember to put out your hunting fires. To report a wildfire call, 310-FIRE (3473).

HIGH LEVEL FOREST AREA | WILDFIRE SITUATION | OCTOBER 26, 2022 AT 1:30 PM 

There are eight wildfires in the High Level Forest Area. Of these fires, two are being held (BH) and six are under control (UC). For more information or to view wildfires on a map, download the AB Wildfire App or visit the Wildfire Status page. 

Wildfire of interest update: 

  • Wildfire HWF107, is located 7 km south of the community of Chateh and 5 km north of highway 58. This fire is classified as Under Control (UC) at 288 hectares in size. There are 25 firefighters, four helicopters and heavy equipment working on this fire. Smoke from this fire is  visible from the community. 
  • Wildfire HWF096, is located 35 km north of the community of John D'or, and south of the Caribou Mountains. This fire is classified as Under Control (UC) at 2,600 ha. This fire is being monitored by Alberta Wildfire staff. There is no threat to any homes or communities at this time. Smoke from the fire can be seen by surrounding communities.

Since January 1st, 2022 in the High Level Forest Area (HLFA), there have been 118 wildfires burning a total of 22,430 hectares.
