The fire danger is Moderate for the High Level Forest Area, however, please continue to use caution in areas of dead/dry grass. Remember this long weekend to stay safe and put out your campfire. Soak it, stir it and soak it again!


HWF025 2021

(Fire HWF025, May 22, 2021. This wildfire is located in the community of Fox Lake and is Being Held (BH) at 20 hectares.)

HIGH LEVEL FOREST AREA WILDFIRE UPDATE | MAY 22, 2021 AT 6:30 PM

There are four active wildfires in the High Level Forest Area. Of these fires, two are classified as Under Control (UC) and two are Being Held (BH). Being Held means, given current weather conditions and resources, the wildfire is not anticipated to grow past expected boundaries.

  • Fire number HWF025 is classified as Being Held (BH) at 20 hectares in size and is located in the community of Fox Lake. There are 33 firefighters, and four helicopters working on this fire. There is no threat to the community at this time. 

There have been a total of 26 wildfires since March 1, 2021 in the High Level Forest Area burning approximately 35 hectares.

PROVINCIAL WILDFIRE UPDATE | MAY 22, 2021

Since March 1, 2021 there has been a total of 307 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta, burning a total of 927 hectares. 

FIRE PERMITS

From March 1st until October 31st, fire permits are required for any burning, except campfires, in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. To request your free fire permit call the High Level Forest Area permit line at 780-926-5407. Leave a message with your home location, burn location, what you plan to burn and our patrolmen will get back to you. 

Fire permits help us to track what is burning on the landscape. If you're burning without a fire permit or outside fire permit conditions, your fire is considered a wildfire. By getting a permit you help keep our firefighters free to fight wildfire.
