HIGH LEVEL FOREST AREA WILDFIRE UPDATE | JULY 17, 2020 AT 5:00 p.m.
There is one active wildfire in the High Level Forest Area. This wildfire is classified as Under Control (UC). Click here for a map of the fire location and its status within the High Level Forest Area.
Since March 1, 2020, the High Level Forest Area has recorded 36 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta that have burned a total of 106.92 hectares.
Since March 1, 2020, Alberta has recorded 376 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta that have burned a total of 741.07 hectares.

CHUCKEGG CREEK WILDFIRE | JULY 17, 2020 AT 5:00 p.m.
The 111 hectare hotspot on the east side of the Chuckegg Creek wildfire that firefighters have been working on these past few weeks has been extinguished. However, there is still work to be done on the fire before it can be classified as extinguished. The anticipated area of work is a large area in the east of the fire as it continues to burn deep into the peat moss.
As summer progresses, firefighters and equipment will continue to man up at the Sandy Pines day base close to the east side to allow for monitoring and quick response to any additional hotspots that may surface. Aerial patrols will continue over the fire as well as low level altitude infrared scans to help identify hotspot areas.
