The wildfire danger for the Grande Prairie Forest Area is now MODERATE.
Wildfire Situation
At this time, there are four active wildfires in the Grande Prairie Forest Area. All fires are listed as Under Control (UC).
Since March 1, 2021 there have been 81 wildfires burning nearly 130 hectares in the Grande Prairie Forest Area. For more information on the current wildfire situation across the province of Alberta visit wildfirestatus.alberta.ca
Fire permits
During wildfire season, you are required to have a fire permit if you plan on burning in the Forest Protection Area (FPA), with the exception of a campfire. To request your fire permit, contact the local forest area. If you are found burning without a fire permit, you may be fined $600 or more. Anyone living outside the FPA can contact their municipality for information about local fire permit requirements.
